See HyperTrypsy’s local favorites.
Oahu, Hawaii is one of the most preferred tropical destinations for the adventurous souls who’re looking to get away from their usual 9-5 routine. Recently, Shivansh, the founding blogger of HyperTrypsy, went on a 10-day long trip to Hawaii. On returning, he writes this post to give a taste of the Hawaiian island to the adventure lovers!
From rejuvenating hikes with panoramic views to stunning underwater adventures and where to grab your breakfast on the Oahu island, Shivansh, founding blogger of HyperTrypsy, shares his favorite beach hotel, hikes, delicious local eats and more.
1. Best Beach Hotel
The Modern Hotel: Waikiki is known for its collection of luxury hotels and resorts along Waikiki’s beaches. Whether you’re here for a business trip, a family vacation, honeymoon or a solo excursion, The Modern Hotel has everything you need in one convenient location. Like the name suggests, the hotel has a very elegant, modern feel to it. One of the attractions inside the hotel is the sunset pool that has a collection of 100 tons of sand from the neighboring islands. Also, don’t be surprised if you spot some celebrities or popular DJs guest spinning at the Addiction Night Club inside the Modern Hotel!
2. Best Beach
Hanauma Bay: Formed within a volcanic cone, Hanauma Bay is a natural reserve and an ideal destination for snorkeling because of its high population of marine life. Be prepared to swim out into Hanauma Bay’s clear blue waters and explore the living coral reefs that have an abundance of colorful fish, tortoise, eel and even sharks in the deep waters. The snorkeling equipment can be rented on site, but, I would highly recommend bringing your own beach towel, swimsuit, and rash guard.
3. Best Hike
Manua Falls: Located in the Manoa Valley that received most rainfall on Oahu, is a 150 feet waterfall called Manoa Falls. The trail to the waterfall is about 1.6 miles and it gets muddy and slippery in the middle. If you get a feeling that you’re in the middle of a Jurrasic Park movie, that’s true because some of the jungle scenes in the movie were shot right here. At the end of the trail, is the beginning of another lesser known trail. Find that trail and it will lead you to a humongous Banyan tree, on which you can climb and hop through its branches like a monkey!
4. Best Relaxing Spot
Ala Manoa Beach Park: Even though you’ll have plenty of options to hike, surf or swim at Oahu, I would highly recommend jogging or running by any beach close to the sunset time. I spent most of my evenings running by the Ala Manoa Beach Park ( by the Waikiki Beach), that has a running track and also, offers an uninterrupted view of the sunset every evening. If you’re looking for a triathlon training experience, you can also bring a bike and a swim suit!
5. Best Food
Hawaii is a melting pot of ethnicities and the story is no different for food. From regional Hawaiian cuisines to delicious sea food, Hawaii has an assorted mix of cuisines for everyone. You can start your day with a sumptuous breakfast (for vegans or meat-lovers) at the Goofy Cafe, and my recommendation is to try out the Goofy EggsBenedictt. If you have a sweet tooth then the awesome Malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery are a must-have. Finally, challenge yourself and your friends or family members with outrageously delicious and humongous milkshakes, aptly named volcano shakes. I’d suggest that you skip a meal before and after the milkshake because it is HUGE!
